Faculty Profile

Uzma takes a multi-modal & eclectic approach in therapy, including Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral, Experiential, Family Systems, etc. She is also interested in the use of Hypnosis, Visual Imagery & Relaxation Techniques in the treatment of psychological problems. She taught at the St. Louis Community Colleges in St. Louis, Missouri from 2004-06 and covered courses such as General Psychology, Abnormal Psychology & Psychology of Gender. At LUMS she has taught Human Behavior & developed new courses including Child & Adult Development, Personality Theories & Domestic Violence. She is actively involved in developing counseling services for the students & staff at LUMS & offers workshops on a variety of social, psychological & academic issues. She is a member of the Senior Project Committee & the Policy Review Committee. Uzma has been hosting a website (www.crescentlife.com) since 1999, interfacing western Psychology and Islamic Psychology. She also writes articles for the website addressing psychological principles from the Islamic perspective. Crescentlife.com received the Award of Excellence from StudyWeb in 2001 & from StudySphere in 2006. This website is used as resource by many colleges in the US.
